AZ Pandemic in Numbers for the Week Ending April 3

 

Here are the Arizona numbers for the week just ended:


As with last week, we have Maricopa County and positive test numbers going in the wrong direction, though the Maricopa County increase was much less than last week (increase was 3.6).  However, we now have the statewide numbers also going in the wrong direction.  

This is despite the fact that almost half the population has now received at least  one vaccination. The population figures include children, so among adults that percentage is even higher.  On the other hand we have yet to see an increase in COVID-19 hospital beds, and perhaps the vaccines are responsible for that.  Though it does take some time for increased infection rates to result in hospitalizations, so we'll keep an eye on that next week.

It is good to see we are accelerating again; however, we're not accelerating quite as fast as we were two and especially four weeks ago.
